Summer 2012: Conservative and Libertarian Political Thought at CU-Denver (see class web site).
Fall 2012: American Politics at ACC
I began teaching at the collegiate level when I was in the Ph.D. program at Indiana University-Bloomington. After moving back to Colorado, I was offered a teaching position in the Social Science Department at Arapahoe Community College. I have been teaching American Politics and Introduction to Political Science at ACC since 2004.
Beginning Summer Semester 2012, I will be teaching Modern Conservative Thought in America at the University of Colorado, Denver.
Here is a short CV.

"Mr. McMaken is incredible. Laid back, knowledgeable, witty and willing to dive into topics till the students understand the material, this instructor is a true class act. I was uncertain what I was getting into taking this class, but from day one Mr. McMaken has made it a true joy. I have been able to apply what I've been learning to my day to day worldview as I see elements of our course in the news and now have a better understanding of the history, development and concepts of politics and the repercussions of regime actions on the global scale."
"I think Ryan is very knowledgable about political science. He is readily available for questions, and very helpful. I learned a lot from his class. I would love to take another class with Ryan."
"Very knowledgeable and always prepared for class. Very helpful and available outside of class."

"Mr. McMaken devoted time to understanding the students and explaining concepts to the students. He was available for clarification of concepts, offered other methods of learning key ideas, through videos, handouts and diagrams on the board. His appreciation of Political Science made the class interesting. I would recommend this class to other students."
